Work > Nordjyllands Trafikselskab
Nordjyllands Trafikselskab (NT) has been connecting people across Northern Denmark since 1981, operating buses, local railways, and regional trains. Challenging the traditional divide between private cars and public transport, NT promotes a more inclusive vision of mobility, replacing “either/or” with “both/and.” Unmute was tasked with translating this mindset into a sonic identity that could unify the experience and strengthen trust across every touchpoint.
A recognizable sound for all passengers
The sonic identity is built around the idea of movement with meaning, capturing both the physical and emotional experience of travel. At its core is a strong melodic signature, designed to be recognizable while remaining warm, human, and reassuring.
The sound reflects a journey through Nordjylland, moving from open, organic textures into a more structured and rhythmic urban pulse. This balance between calmness and motion mirrors NT’s role as both a stable system and a dynamic connector. Developed as a cohesive system, the identity lives across all key touchpoints - from sonic logo and brand music to announcement sounds inside the busses, on-hold music, and spatial audio at Aalborg’s main terminal. Each element reinforces the same experience: a transport system that feels connected, trustworthy, and built around people.
