Since 2019, Unmute has collaborated with Danmarks Radio (DR) to craft a cohesive sonic identity across the organization. From news and culture to entertainment, the goal has been to create consistency while giving each channel and programme its own voice. The new Radioavisen jingle represents the latest milestone in this journey.

An Icon of Danish Broadcasting

With over 1.5 million daily listeners Radioavisen is more than a news program. It’s a Danish institution whose jingle is woven into national memory. Since 1926, when it first launched as Pressens Radioavis, the opening melody has signaled reliability and gravitas to generations of listeners, reinforcing DR’s role as the nation’s newsroom.

Arranged for the DR Symphony Orchestra, the new version by Unmute pays tribute to the past while embracing the future. It carries inspiration from the earlier jingles, while carefully retaining the famous town-hall bells at noon - a sound that has always anchored Radioavisen in time and place. The new sound is short, distinct and versatile and the orchestration has been given new richness and clarity, making it resonate in today’s multi-platform world, where news is consumed both through traditional radio and digital channels.
